LIECHENSTEIN, The Princely Collections
The Princely Collections hold around 1,600 paintings, with masterpieces from the early Renaissance to the Austrian Romantic era. Besides outstanding paintings and sculptures the Princely Collections also possess important holdings of drawings and engravings, pietra dura objects, enamels, ivories, decorative weapons, porcelain, tapestries and furniture. Many of these can be seen in the two Viennese palaces in the Rossau quarter and the centre of the city.
Beyond their permanent presence in Vienna the Princely Collections are represented with changing temporary exhibitions in Austria and abroad. Monographic exhibitions in Europe (Milan, Antwerp, Moscow, Prague), in the USA (New York) and Asia (Singapore, China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan) have strengthened the Collections’ reputation in recent years. Moreover, selected objects from the Collections have regularly appeared as loans in prestigious exhibition projects at museums all over the world.
